Fact... Santorum owed/owes his earlier life from the fact, his families livelihood and shelter was care of the Butler PA Veterans Hospital. You would think he would be Veteran Friendly but, it has been said, by personnel, at the Butler VAMC that when he was Senator, he was asked, but never ...never visited the Campus. As far as I know..this may still be the fact. He has NO idea of how the Working Class works let alone have any loyalties to those Veterans who served him and his family well.

Fact.... In a Face To Face with Santorum, ( in his Washington DC office) a group of DISABLED Veterans were basically told... by him( If my memory serves me, he had the ash dot on his forehead from Ash Wednesday.)... the Veterans Issues that we addressed, were not on his list of priorities..

Both of these incidents were witnessed by myself and Brothers who attended the meetings. He seems to PRIDE himself with his praise of Veterans and their issues but, as I always say.. never listen to a politician without LOOKING at what they DO. Some of those Brothers are included in the Send of this email.

Now this... For God's sake...a Veterans Home? For the sake of a religion? If the implications are just a bit of truth.. this is NOT the ballot I will make.

Now know... I don't look at politics like many..Some issues I think are, and should be, of a personal nature and decision. The individual should know what is right or wrong for THEMSELVES short of breaking the Law. I have my opinions on a lot of this but, I do not make the laws.

Don't ask me who I want, to represent the GOP. The sniping hasn't stopped and it looks like hungry wolves fighting for a scrap of food. The debates are a joke and more to entertain than to inform. Billions spent on useless endeavours.

All of this in my Honest Opinion.

So - if Obama is a Keynesian and Romney is a Keynesian, what's the difference?

Obama throws cooler parties at the white house than Romney probably would. Not that I want to see either of them living there at this time next year...

I still voted for RP in our primary. He's still the only one that makes sense and already has a plan as opposed to the pledges I keep hearing from the other candidates. That and I have more issues with the other candidates than I do RP.

I don't care what god they talk to - but I do care what economists they consider in making their decisions.

Not sure where to put this - so I'll put it here. Somethin' I was mulling about in my head today. I posted it on Facebook earlier.

================================================

Our currency used to be based on an actual physical commodity. One dollar was set to equal 1/676 of an ounce of gold. (It's varied a bit here and there.) What this did was set an exchange rate and 'fix' what a dollar was worth. Some economists argue it had its drawbacks, while others believe its drawbacks were minimal compared to its strength as a monetary practice and policy.

Right now - we have a fiat currency, which really isn't based on anything of intrinsic value. The dollar is largely symbolic . . . and it's value is on a roller coaster depending largely on how much of it is 'out there' in circulation. Honestly - it's glorified monopoly money at this point.

So - I've been thinking . . .

Gold itself isn't exactly something we "need" even though it has been valued throughout history, it's also one of those things that is arbitrary in the end. (Kind of like a shiny baseball card when you think about it.) So - what it is that everyone can agree on as a commodity?

Energy.

We all use it. From the most primitive hunter / gatherer tribe to the most modern metropolis, energy is a commodity. It produces food (which in itself is stored potential energy), produces locomotion, generates goods, etc. So why not use a unit of energy as  the new "gold standard?"

I mean the international community already understands watts, joules, BTU's - etc. Although I think the basic unit should be the calorie . . . with a penny equaling "x" number of calories. The value of something could be set by the number of calories it takes to produce or the number of calories it outputs. (So a Big Mac would definitely be more expensive than a nice Cobb Salad - right?) Of course - there would be variation in the price of goods for utility, rarity, and novelty (like there is now . . . I mean, who'd price VanGogh's Starry Night based on caloric output?).

Kinda makes sense doesn't it?

I know this isn't exactly an original idea - it's been floated out there from time to time. And I wonder if this is going to be the basis for a world currency at some point. (A world currency is coming - it's just a matter of time.) With a little thought, you can see how it could be calculated in terms of physical and machine labor - units used / produced, etc.

I'm just wondering when it's going to happen . . .

Any thoughts?

Well we get billed in kilowatt hours by the electric company. They just do the currency conversion into dollars for us. A world currency will eventually come, but doubt that we'll see it in our lifetimes and probably not our kids lifetimes. It's an inevitability, but I think it's going to be a long time coming.

I've been watching the Republican race, partly to be an informed American but also for it's entertainment value. I like Romney, thought he should have had the nomination a few years back. I like Ron Paul a whole lot more now especially since his views and plans are actually being reported.

I have some serious problems with Newt and Rick. In my lifetime I can't remember seeing such polarizing candidates. I had read on this forum that a few people were not pleased with Rick's performance, but it's incredible how out of touch this guy is. The sad part is that he may actually have a chance.
Tonight should be interesting. I just wish there were more viable candidates on both sides.
Oh, and hey y'all, It's been too long, I need to stop by more often, I missed everyone.  :)

Tife, long time between posts.
I think the discomfort level is high on all the candidates. How else can the the rise and fall of each be explained? Newt was flying high a couple of weeks ago, and now he's below the Mendoza line.
Were Colbert actually running he would get consideration. He even has a PAC.
Here is a clip from today on the Michigan primary.

So... and then there were 3. Santorum has "suspended" his campaign. I'm not wuite sure how suspended and quit are synonyms but he quit. That leaves Romney, Gingrich and Paul as the three remaining candidates. Romney is so far out in front that getting the nod is more or less a formality now as far as I can tell.  So it appears that we will have  a venture capitalist on the ticket in 2012. Given the track record of venture capitalists and what they have done to the American job market in recent history give me great concern.

I don't know if this country can survive "four more years" or four years with this potential new hire. That's my opinion, at least for the time being until I see different.

Their funding sources are pretty close to the same folks . . . save for small donors and registered bundlers. Same shit different election. I'm underwhelmed with 'choice.' There are only 2 candidates I'm interested in at this point. And thanks to the brainwashed American 2 party mindset - they probably won't get anywhere near the Whitehouse . . . which is EXACTLY what those funding sources want.
