And then we have.....

Someone my wife and I know.... She has had many chances to work and yet when hired... if she is...to do something really stupid to be fired. In the interim, she has worn a path to the Social Security office to file for SSD or SSI as soon as her unemployment is going to dry up.

Here is her job interview..

" I can't work weekends, or Wednesday night ( bike night) and I can't do shift work."

Ok, now she tells the employer what she can't work ( She is single with a dog at home). Then if they do hire her..it is part time.... because???

In just the last year or two, she has started to act really spacey...to the point of ending up several months in a Mental Institution near her family in NY State. She was given shock treatments and a plethora of meds. Now she is home... Social Security and other Social Care Programs have deemed her able to function and become employed. She continues to tell the employer the statement I quoted before and is now NOT taking the meds she was told she HAD to be taking. The cycle begins anew.

Now, more than once she has said she is looking for a man to "take care" of her and her working isn't part of the program. Since the men she "dates" seem to take care of "themselves", she is soon told to hit the bricks. I will say I believe she is slow in social grace and interactions but this woman was married for OVER 15 YEARS) and has a daughter. Her ex had offered a place for her to live in Florida ( Where he went during and after the divorce. ) but she refused. He is a nice guy.

I am looking more towards the "I don't wanna work" side more than " I am sick" side in her case. Right now her Doctor has told her she needs to continue the meds or she will end up in another facility. They even realize the so-called "boyfriend" is a large part of her problem. What I also see is if it has a Bike, drinks beer, and has balls.... THAT'S what she wants. I have to wonder if this is just a case of bad nasty choices over the need for mental intervention and a lifetime on the public dole.

Hey!!!! Don't we all... to some extent.... but we adapt and overcome.

I am not making excuses for anyone ( me included) .... we all have shortcomings to adjust to. Some can and some won't. I am told I have anger issues but they seem only to happen when someone pisses me off.  ::)

We all have burdens....the extent of which can be made easier by the use of good advice and yes.... even some medical help. If you refuse either and all.... should I feel bad for you??

If you were a government agency, it would have taken a $15,000 study to determine that.
