Yer Right..it isn't earned,, but neither is the wages the Government deems is a necessary for the "MINIMUM WAGE" increase. It is set so that we can cope better with the increasing costs of ..well... LIVING. I remember the Minimum Wage I got paid was $1.00/hour and eventually went to work in a Steel Mill for $5.50/hour... I wonder what that would buy me today?...even with inflation factored.

COLA is NOT a raise. It adjusts and stabilizes ( or is suppose to) the buying power of the rate paid. BUT... as soon as COLA is put in the mix..prices go up, even though COLA was given to cover the losses of BUYING POWER of the PREVIOUS YEAR. It is NEVER figured FORWARD. According to charts I look at (below)... if things remain the same in Sept. and Oct. there may be a 3.3% COLA NEXT YEAR on this year's figures.

I believe, but may be wrong, but I think the point was COLA is not earned money.

So, now we have to sit back and wonder..WHO did all of this to us. But... WHO was responsible to ..at least... try to insure and secure our future. We can blame the rich and the Government I guess, but we have to accept at least part of the responsibility.

Still, none of this explains why it once again must fall on the government -- read that, us taxpayers' pockets -- to bail out everyone affected by health-care expenses, failed pensions, individual failure or inability to invest for retirement, or inability of retirement income to keep up with inflation.

We complain about the growing nanny state, then we turn around and demand a greater share of the spoils.

Look..I don't want a NANNY STATE!!! You haven't picked that up yet... So...lets start paring back to the beginning... NIX TAX CREDITS of any kind, welfare as a way of life, BS Lawsuits, FREE anything to those but the ones who pay for it....

In the end...how far down this road do you want to go.... PAY to play sports in school..School trips... free Cell Phones.... What... What are you talking about?? Go back and check all the Government Programs we have added just since the 1950s. We hunt for "causes". There is o shame or responsibility to be found..HAND OUT... GIMMEE... Which programs do YOU want??? None??? Some?? What?? Just curious....
