Windstream's internet/phone/Dish network bundle vs. Armstrong
« on: August 30, 2011, 12:39:24 AM »
I'm considering switching from Armstrong to Windstream's $89.99 for life internet/phone/Dish network service.  Has anyone tried it & are you happy with the service?  I see that you have to sign up for 24-months of Dish Network.  Any comments pro & con are appreciated!

Thanks!

Well if you're going to go with satellite you will need to have a clear, unobstructed view of the southern sky. Picture quality is better with satellite than with cable as well. During periods of heavy rain you may lose your TV reception due to the size of the dishes they mount on the houses. I can't say much about windstream's service as I've never had it. I know there are a number of members/visitors here that are on windstream though. Maybe some of them will pipe up.

I have Dish and have lost reception only a couple times in the 7 years I've been with them and it was remedied by removing snow off the dish during a snow storm one time.  I think a huge storm took service out for a short spell once too.  I have Windstream DSL and it has been good.  It's the best I can get out where I live.  I've pondered the package deal.  I have a premium Dish package and I think you get the basic package with the $89 deal.  May have to look into it again though.  All in all, I've been happy with Windstream and Dish.  Doesn't Armstrong have a package deal as well?  I think my parents have one?  Nice TV package, unlimited local and long distance and cable internet and they are happy with it.  Is it much more expensive than Windstream?

We have had dish since the early 90's first in Fla and then here. As CLW says you will lose signal sometimes due to rain, but the outages are minutes not hours. But frankly I like it. Like NP I don't know about windstream either.
