Folks...this is thetype of crap that screw us on the prices... S-P-E-C-U-L-A-T-I-O-N.... They hedge on rumors. Now..for those who went against the Keystone Pipeline... congratulations... you won??.. so we will keep depending on the sandbox.

Now I know the oil in that pipeline would be on the world market but... it could have done at least 2 things... force the Arab Cartel to lower their prices in order to get more customers or... increase the supply and thus LOWER prices. But alas... we are worried about some leaks that have not really shown to be significant and unfixable. Folks..we pay $30,000 dollars for a car and $200,000 for a new home.... tell me we don't have recalls on those cars or have to call back the builders to correct something... From Brakes to Breakers... they also could be disasterous...and we pay the price and no expectstion of perfection. So now we want a long pipeline to be perfect?? WTF!

So let us suck up the roller coaster prices of fuel and it's consequence and quit bitching?? Yeah riiiiight! ::)

Now I know the oil in that pipeline would be on the world market but...
That oil is headed straight to the gulf of mexico to be sent straight overseas, not inland to sell within the US.

It's just like the way we're gonna rape the environment for shale gas in the name of domestic energy independence while the gas companies are already building compression plants at ports so it can be shipped elsewhere.

The price of energy we use isn't going to go down when it's more profitable to ship newfound resources elsewhere while we inexplicably have to continue to pay to import it.

Having said that, the real culprit here is speculators who are just buying and selling to squeeze money out of it rather than, like an airline, someone who is trading in commodities to hedge the costs of what they consume.

I think I said that..."Now I know the oil in that pipeline would be on the world market but... "

What oil we have through tht pipeline is a THREAT to OPEC, in that it can hit th3e WORLD marketeasier. What THT does it for OPEC to shake a bit and realize... they are not the main game in town. Since the oil value THEY put on each barrell is a manufactured value... and the fact that oil is theri ONLY product aside from SAND... they will lower the value of oil in order to keep their customers at their door. It is in that way that the Keystone and OUR drilling will affect world prices... not that we are closer to the source.

Now... most of the oil WE pump here in the US is not the grade our Manufacturing Infrastructure utilizes. Our MI is old and was set on "eating" of the Sweet Crude and not the rot we mostly have domestically. Until our Industry sets itsself to use this, we will continue to use the imports. After WWII , we rebuilt all the countries we had war in and set them up to use the crap we can't. It is NOW biting us. Even Alaskan Oil is bought by the likes of Japan..and it keeps them from buying the Sweet Crude we need for our appetites.

Oil is a world commodity, thus making it fluctuate at every Foreign Fart. It is what it is. And yes,,, speculators do their damage when the wind blows different as opposed to reacting to and ACTUAL incident. In the interum... they rake in the money on those fluctuations. It was my original premise.

We are just floatsom, subject to the ebb and flow of the waves...

....currently $3.03-ish around the mile-high bunker hood, with my Safeway card I can get it for $2.99....

....several places around the metro area are $2.90, a couple at $2.89,  with a notice splattering in the high nineties....

....read in the paper yesterday that our prices are falling due to declining lack of demand....

Sure. Until you start to wonder why your state doesn't have enough money to fix its roads.

$3.95 here.... I don't see it being long to see $4 as it is still one month off from Memorial Day. 5 Counties south of me have a Rep. who filed a bill to suspend the Botique Gasoline Menu. His reasoning??? We are building cleaner running cars BUT.... BUT...the Treehuggers are fighting to keep the law as hard as they would try to keep their daughters virgin.

I found this interesting...even if it is a yaer old. I also have been told that a 10% profit Margin is what businesses strive for and is an acceptable profit....
