Everything varies and constants aren't. Most states have their laws online, but the language can be trying unless you have a law degree.

I do believe with the Castle Doctrine in PA..just made law months ago... you DO NOT have a duty to retreat. If you feel you are being put in to dire circumstance... well you figure it out. In the end..always better to be tried than carried.

A woman home alone with her baby in Oklahoma... bad guy trying to break in.. had not one but 2 guns. She was instructed by 911 to do what she felt she needed to do to protect her baby and her... so..long story short... BOOM... one shot bad guy. This was on FOX about 30 min. ago. Her baby and herself are safe and the bad guy.... not so much.

...thanks, again. However, the reciprocity agreements are the easy part; it's the 'duty to retreat', and even harder to gleam-  'duty to inform' variations from state to state that present the real challenges when rolling along the slab....

I don't know how PA's is, but the Florida Castle Doctrine from 2005 sums up like this.

One: It establishes, in law, the presumption that a criminal who forcibly enters or intrudes into your home or occupied vehicle is there to cause death or great bodily harm, therefore a person may use any manner of force, including deadly force, against that person.

Two: It removes the "duty to retreat" if you are attacked in any place you have a right to be. You no longer have to turn your back on a criminal and try to run when attacked. Instead, you may stand your ground and fight back, meeting force with force, including deadly force, if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to yourself or others. [This is an American right repeatedly recognized in Supreme Court gun cases.]

Three: It provides that persons using force authorized by law shall not be prosecuted for using such force.

It also prohibits criminals and their families from suing victims for injuring or killing the criminals who have attacked them.

In short, it gives rights back to law-abiding people and forces judges and prosecutors who are prone to coddling criminals to instead focus on protecting victims.

That being said, every state has it's own quirks
