Soooo, hi everyone.  My family and I are moving to Meadville the 17th of November.  I'm just peeking around the different forums and locals sites and trying to get a feel for the general area.

Actually we're moving there so hubby can be home more often and same with our son.  Hubby drives truck and runs both i-80 and i-90.  We're currently in Dubois area (i-80) so he only gets home about once every 3 weeks.  Our son is in an RTF outside of Pittsburgh so this will also put our distance to him about half of what it is currently.

No family up there, heck we dont even know anyone.  Guess we'll hafta find a place to meet folks. 

NO!  It's definitely not for the weather.  I lost the coin toss or I would've picked South Carolina.  Though I guess this just means I hafta polish up on my rendition of the "Chilly Willy the Penguin" theme.

nmp- I'm glutton for punishment in the snowbelt, aren't I?  And thank you both for the welcome.

Can anyone help me with a question?  Obviousy i'm not familiar with the area at all.  Is there any self-storage places there like toward the south side of meadville?  We're moving down off of rt 19 but still kinda close to town.  i'd like to find a place relatively close until spring when I can build a garage or something in the likes.  Thankies!

Well there are places with much worse weather than Meadville. I've lived there. I wish I could help you with recommendations on the storage places but I don't live in the area any longer. I'm sure that someone else can make a suggestion or two though. If not there's always this link!

you would think living in meadville for 23 years i would know my directions... i live right onthe edge of town. i think meadville is a nice place to live really.  and what we lack in goods and services is not too far away.

hey i had a really dumb question, you said your son is a RTF? what is that? ( am i going to feel like a dummy for asking this?)
let me do some checking about the storage. i know there are a lot of those around here. if you want to send me a private message i can get  some more particulars about  points of reference where you need information for.. without being too intrusive in your life...

thanks nmp.  i'm on dial up here and well i couldnt get that to load.

bh80- RTF is a residential treatment facility.  an no, dont feel like a dummy.  unless you're dealing with kids like this, most people have no clue.  my son is 7, adhd, bipolar and autistic.  all those things tossed together makes him very violent.  He's too violent to live at home.  I could tell you horror stories that would make even clive barker cringe at them.

PM would be fine.  I'll toss ya my email in em if ya like.  being new to this here forum, i have no clue how to do it or i would.

i'm off to sears.  dryer blew up over the weekend and now i gotta replace the belt sensor and timer, grrrrrrrrrr.

yes i do understnd now, i have a friend that has a child nearly identical to what you describe. it is very  very scary, i agree. as well on my street we have a child that is mildy all the things you decribe and has done well with treatment so far. i knwo there are some good support groups around here you could hook up with. i have no children but do love kids for sure.  i will send yo ua note later.

Wow, that's tough. I hope he's getting the right treatment. Nothing is ever easy when it comes to you kids it seems.

Notification of PM's will show up in the messages tabs at the top of your screen and in the "user" block which is the top most block on the left side. I suppose I should see if there is a way for me to block the pictures from showing up in the center of screen optionally for users.  You can also check the help tab at the top which will answer most of your questions. Anything else, just ask!

Aside from the pictures this site should load up reasonably fast for you, though I'm a bit miffed that my hosting service has me running on a slow server.  With any luck you can go broadband when you get relocated.

thanks nmp.  actually this site is one of the few that loads halfway decent for me.  I'm soooooo hoping dsl is available where we're moving to. 

 Hiya cindylou.  ok, here's my next question.  is there any decent night life in the area?  no, I dont drink but il ove to go hang out and watch drunks fall over their own 2 feet.  ok, i'm a bit sadistic at times.  Guess being in this small town made me easily entertained.

Meadvilles night life is limited.  The best thing going on, IMO, is the stand up comedy at the Days Inn once in a while and checking out some of the local bands.   They are getting to be few from what I've seen.  (Have not had the chance to see Navin yet but I will!)  You have to go to Erie if you want much more.

uhmmm , we are recliner rats.. but do get out for wings and beer on a limited basis... and mickey's for a steelers game once in awhile
