First off, a special thanks goes out to bighair80s for contacting meadville.com and requesting that a link to this site be included in their directories. I hope they are kind enough to do so.

Now, who has any ideas on attracting assitional membership in the area. The people from the tribune seem to be grounded in the foruems there with no desire to cross over to something new. But, there has to be more people in Crawford county that participate online, right? Yes, I know the domain name doesn't make sense to most people nor does reference anything that would be recognizable to Meadville, but maybe that's a good thing in the end.

I really would like to try and make a go of this site and get some active membership. So please if you have any ideas, please (please) let me know.

i think the meadville online site will be a big help.  lots of folks use the classifieds on there.  they said they will send an email when they figure out where to put this forum's link. meadville online is a really nice local site with lots of local information.  i like the tribune but like nightnare says, ther are not too many features enabled.  i like being able to post pictures and have private messages that do not utilize our personal emails. 

i think just give it time, nightmare, how much time do we have?  haha

Time will tell, I have had this domain for 10 years and have never done much with it except use it for email. I'll be patient. I'm not going to take it down next week just because 1000 people haven't joined. (although that would be very cool)

I'm looking into putting up a chat room if it won't blow the lid of of my bandwidth allocation, which is pretty high to start with. If that doesn't make sense I'll explain it to you and give real world analogies.

This isn't going anywhere for now and I'm looking into how I can add features that would be useful a few at a time.

I'll ponder it.  I am surpised more people from the tribune forum didn't come on over....but that may be a very good thing.  You're right NP, the name itself isn't very helpful.  Good idea though BH!

No, it's definately not a name that lends itself to the areas identity, but on the other hand it was the only one I had to work with.    I don't know why more trib people didn't come over either, I'm not a regular there, but I have been posting on and off for a while on heymartha. And I've never been nasty or calous (I don't think anyhow) to anyone. (Maybe once though)

Anyhow I just got done pourng through the logs and there have been several hundred visitors to the site, they just haven't posted.

Okay, so we have the field of dreams thing here. I built it and now we're all waiting for Shoeless Joe to show up.

Word of mouth (ala pig roast 8/4) would be a good start... If you really look @ meadville martha thing, there aren't really that many people there... it looks like a lot but it seems to be the same people...

Since I'm calling Jeanne I can see if she has any current email lists of our class anyway and come up with some lingo to blast to them all...

Either of you know how those people found Martha? i know I just stumbled on it one day looking for the tribune for something... it was a mistake... so when you think about it, I don't think even THAT'S all that publicized either...

most of the local people found hey martha through the link on the tribune is my guess.  reading the meadvilele tribune probably means you have some connection to meadville hence the forum available at the bottim of the page may catch the eye.  that is what i was thinkng about that other site (meadville.com). also i was going to put up a flyer on the notice board at the library when i get a chance to.  there are lots of pople who use the library internet service.  i think there are a couple coffee shops that have wi-fi free for the patrons, i dont know the calibur of the clientel though by that i mean how interested in local stuff they might be.

what pig roast? havent heard of it, we are out of the loop i guess..haha

the email thing sounds like a stellar idea.  if you send an email with a link in it, it takes all the work out of it for people, all they have to do is click and register...

On classmates.com I say a couple people asking if there was a reunion and jeanne gunn (kebort) replied that they're thinking about a pig roast on the 4th... that's all I know right now

now I just read somethign that they're thinking doing something when we're all 50 years old in 2 years...

i had a thought to add an announcement inthe meadville online announcement page for area stuff. i have been busy lately and admittedly a bit distracted. i am going to take a flyer over to the library for their notice board but not till next week. i have to ask permission of the library staff.  i am sure that next week i will feel more like it, im just kind of anxious in anticipation of our trip to cleveland this week. 

it will work out, meanwhile all the new stuff you have been implimenting seems really good.

Well I went backand poured through the logs for giggles. It seems that we are getting an average of 200 unique visits here per day for the month of July. A lot of the traffic is coming from Crawford County too.About 10 percent is search engine traffic.
