Crawford Country Fair
« on: July 07, 2007, 07:17:08 AM »
So who will be attending the fair this year? I am  taking this opportunity to introduce you all to the calendar function. In case you didn't explore the calendar any further,  you can click on a day and add an event to the calendar. That way when events occur thay can be listed on the calendar where they will be easier to find, unless wading through discussion threads is your thing.  ;)

So the fair is on the calendar, and now you know about the calendar!

So who's going to the fair? Is the cheese curd stand still there?

Cheese curd stand?   I will be there!  In years past I have had three horses there.  Taking two this year.  Will be in the 4H barn.  Was going to take a couple goats but have not taken the time to learn about goat SHOWING and I'm just getting the know how to actually take care of them.  Their just funny pets really.  The funniest animal I have ever encountered.  Big love bugs.  I plan on having them up there next year though.  It will give my son something to do besides blow my money.  He wants to bake something and do that deal.  The kitchen and the footbal are his big loves in life.  Very diverse young man if I do say so myself.  I hardly even make it past the Dairy Princess ice cream stand all week.

I used to sleep overnight at the fair in my younger days. I don't know what the fair is like now but it was fun as a kid. I used to sleep at the Sportsman club exhibit. My job was to make sure all the animals were fed, watered and happy. Of course after that was done I had full run of the fair grounds and got to hang out with all the carnies. In retrospect it wasn't the best thing for a 13 year old to be there by himself overnight,  but it's part of my life now.  One year I also sold concessions in the stands. I didn't make much but it was pocket change.

It was always a big event for me and does hold fond memories.

A friend of mine gets a flat $600 for the week to work the taffy stand.

My son turned 13 Tuesday.  Can NOT imagine letting him loose in the fair for a week.

Times are definately different now. we as parent tend to play helicopter around our kids. It's a tough balancing act because they have to learn how to act on their own, yet we don't want them to get into trouble.  :-\

What lame rock acts have they had at the fair? I might know some of them...
