Knickerbocker Hotel on A&E Paranormal State
« on: February 21, 2008, 09:36:19 PM »
The Knickerbocker Hotel in Linesville will be featured on the A&E series Paranormal State on March 17 at 10pm.  The Penn State PRS (Paranormal Research Society)  investigates claims of phantom children and strange noises.

I know this place is on Erie St but what is around it.  I just can't picture it.

Cool beans, right up my wife's alley. It's on the TiVo Season pass so I know she'll be watching it.

Thanks for the heads up.

Pinball,,,,, you are right about the hotel being on Erie St in Linesville. That is the main street. It is located on the corner of Erie St. and N.Pymatuning st. across the street from Jerry's Corner Bar and beside the drug store (CVS?) and was Eckards. For years and years the hotel was called the Arlington Hotel.  ;)

Thanks Lock,

I remember the drug store but don't remember the hotel.  Hopefully coming up there in a few weeks so I'll have to scope it out.  I also saw that it was called the Arnold House.  Is this place still in operation?  Looking forward to seeing what they find.

Anyone ever been there?  Any other haunted places in CC?

I believe there has been activity reported at the Riverside Inn as well. I'm sure Titusville must have something going on there with all the untimely deaths they had during the first oil boom.

There was also rumors that the house from the old Hamilton farm next to the fairgrounds was haunted. It has been torn down for years and those were the rumors of kids anyhow so I don't put a lot of stock in it.

Pinball,,,,,Originally the building was the Arnold House,,,,then the Arlington Hotel ( for many many years) and now is the,,,,, Knickerbocker. Across the street is the Linesville Historical Society with many interesting items to view ie the early days of the big swamp that was loaded with Huckleberries and later flooded to create Pymatuning Lake. The huge onion fields that at one time shipped thousands or more onions by rail to all over the country. The railroad that used to run thru Linesville was the PRR and it ran from Erie,PA to Pittsburgh,PA.  The Spillway bowl continues to draw thousands every year and has been beautifully remodled and updated  this past year. Beautiful fishing lake and the perch are really gaining in size for some reason.

Love the history lessons Lock! I love that area, west of Conneaut Lake. Spent my formative years fishin' & swimmin' out there.

We will have to look you up the next time we are in the area. We usually frequent Central Fl too. I just haven't been able to track down NP yet.

Shoot, I'm in Pasco county. Go the second paved road off I-75, hang a right. Turn left at the barking dog. Then ya go 14 miles  and turn left when you smell the still. Pass the outlaws clubhouse and the boondocks lounge, take your first right and go 1.5 miles and hang another right. That's pretty much it and the directions are accurate too!

I didn't know Linesville had a historical society.  Definitely put it on my list.  Didn't know about the onions fields either.  We love the spillway, it is awesome since they redid everything.  Even though the scariest thing in Crawford County was the old restrooms there.  There were a lot of things lurking in there I did not want to see!  One of our favorite things were watching the looks on peoples faces as they exited.  Many many people ran from there with the look of fear!

Love the history lesson Lock!  Nothing is better than first person history.  It was the big lake that brought us to this part of PA.  Unfortunately work and the cold weather sends us back home.

NP... Sounds like CC but with warmer weather!!

Well CC is full of hillbillies, I'm down south where there's bonafide rednecks. A different breed altogether.

You're not a CC native are you?

Nope, I'm from eastern PA.  Came to Pyma for some fishing and R&R and ended up buying a home to eventually retire to.  Reminded me of how East PA used to be before the people from NY and NJ started invading.  You know most of the people in CC wave with the whole hand.  At home they only use 1 finger!
