Do I Need A Permit?
« on: March 29, 2008, 01:06:48 PM »
to add on to my existing deck?   I know when I called about installing a privacy fence last summer, I didn't have to get a permit.   Now I would like to add on to my existing deck but not sure I would have to get a permit to build.

Anyone know from personal experience?

I don't really know. It probably varies from locale to locale. You might want to try here for some information. It may be fruitful, maybe not.

Thanks for that link.....I found this one too.  It still didn't answer my question but it could come in handy for someone else:  CITY OF MEADVILLE

if you are in the city of meadville get a permit, trust me.

are you replacing a deck or is it a new structure? if you are looking for ways to keep from increasing your tax burden there are some structural  workarounds to consider when building a deck. read the specs for your locality. each ward in the city has special rules.

good luck!

oh, and welcome to the board, foodie?

I called the planning and zoning office and ALL construction needs a permit, either it be a zoning one or building one.

I also need to bring in plans or blueprint to have it approved prior.....it could run up to $100 to just get it approved.

Not something that needs done now  ::)
