Where to get a B-Day cake.
« on: April 03, 2008, 02:23:39 PM »
For her birthday, the Mrs. wants go to CC.  I would like to get her a cake.  What would be you suggestions on the best bakery to buy a B-Day cake?  Her preference is chocolate.

Thanks for your help.

PS.
Who ever is in charge, please turn the snow machine off and turn up the temperature just a little bit.

Thanks in advance! ;)

Bakery?  Do we have a real live bakery?  Well, there is Giant Eagle's bakery or Wal Marts bakery.  Does the Pampered Palate or Creative Crust have cakes?

Happy Birthday to Mrs Pinball  ;D

Can I ask what is CC?
As for cakes, do you want a regular cake or would a Dairy Queen ice cream cake work?  My SIL bought me a cake for my BDay a few weeks ago and it was a double chocolate fudge cake from Walmart and was so good, however, it is a very tall and large cake.

I think Giant Eagle may have special cakes in the case - the ones that appeal to me are white cakes with raspberry or strawberry filling in the center.

Hey Foodie,

CC is for Crawford County. We live on the other side of the state and have a place near Pymatuning.

In fact we just came back from there.  Got to meet a nice plummer for my busted water pipe and got to meet a nice Andover Policeman shortly after our arrival.

I figured Walmart, Giant Eagle or even the Sparkle Mart in Ohio would be my choice because I did not ever see an independent bakery anywhere.  Does Sandys bake cakes?  I got a great pie there on Thanksgiving but I don't remember seeing any cakes.

Thanks the info!

Hi Pinball ~ Okay, I get CC now  ::)
Thanks for explaining.

As for Sandys, nope no fresh baked cakes there.   I never realized we didn't have a bakery in town that made cakes.   I just make them myself.

I still say Giant Eagle has the best. Frosting is out of this world and it doesn't have that lard texture that sticks to the roof of the mouth.  :)

Hee's a tidbit you may like to know:  if yo want to make your own cakesbut love that whipped frosting from Giant Eagle, they will make it in any quantity you want and custom dye it for you too!  A friend of mine gets it by the boat load for birthday cakes.
