Although I used to LOVE to ride coasters and other rides, I can no longer ride them.   This one looks like a lot of fun though.   Opens tomorrow.

AND, what I love about Waldameer is that since I don't ride anything, I can still get in for free to just walk around.   Gotta love that!

Waldameer is a great park.  Something for everyone.  Clean.  You don't have to walk forever inbewteen rides.  Lots of sitting places.  Water park.  I really like it up there.  Like Kennywood too.

 :deadhorse:

With Waldameer a mere 35 miles away (with a big lake!) and Kennywood in the 'burgh (90 miles?), there is no compelling reason to ressurect Conneaut Lake Park.

Transform, yes. Ressurect, no.

Yes.  I see the beating of the dead horse there TiFe.  That's exactly what that subject is.   And somehow, over there they seem to enjoy it.

Transform, yes. Ressurect, no.

Agreed. It will never be what it was. It cannot. It can however, be reinvented as something new, provided the backing is there.

But who will allow it?

That will be a legal wad of string that may take years to unravel. Especially since the park is now listed as a trust. And a trust with massive debt at that. The community is split on what the park should become. Some want it returned to circa 1965 style operations. Some want it turned over to developers.  That opens up the historical aspect, should it be preserved or razed?

Since a number of business depended on the park for their existence, the obvious continuation of a revenue generating entity would be in the best interest to the immediate area. The best use would be for something that generates year round revenue in one or more capacities.

The biggest problem is that there isn't that much land there or available in the surrounding areas unless somebody buys a golf course. Unfortunately whatever gets proposed will be opposed by someone and it will get tangled up in litigation for a small eternity. So in my best estimation the old adage of "shit or get off the pot" will become very applicable to the current situation.

I have no answers. The entire situation is really depressing on many fronts when yo think about it.

See, I'm OT in my own forum. Shoot me!

I've posted that site numerous times on the CLP thread. Not too popular with the preservationists. Actually CLP is already on there - listed as Exhibition Park.

No kidding?   I once opened that CLP thread at the other place and ended up closing it as fast as I opened it  :D :D

I can't believe all the parks on that site that are from Penna.
