here is something the swartouts ought to look at, and by the way, perhaps the rest of us too...   if you arent religous it doesnt matter, take away the religous words and the principles are pretty glaring anyhow...

Jesus asked, "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?" (Matthew 7:3-4).

I don't know what your experience has been, but mine has proved Jesus' words true. When I become hyper-sensitive to someone else's sin, I am often guilty of the very same sin. We don't like to see our faults mirrored any more than we like to see someone else show up wearing the same dress at a party, a dress that all of a sudden doesn't seem that attractive anymore. (It looks better on you, friends will whisper reassuringly, and we tell ourselves the same thing about our sin.) I think of it as "plank-in-your-own-eye" vision, working telescopically to magnify my neighbor's sin while at the same time blinding me to that nearer at hand, harbored in my own heart. While it is tempting to call this process discernment, all too often in my own case it is simply disguised judgmentalism.

When I notice someone else's arrogance, it is usually because they have tread upon my pride. In many cases, I may actually be projecting my own sins onto innocent bystanders. When I am in a critical mood, I become insecure, assuming that everyone around me is thinking of me just as critically. The converse is also true: when I am more accepting and gracious to the people around me, I expect them to accept and forgive me.

Is this "sixth sense" a blessing or a curse? It can be either. I can let it increase my sense of self-righteousness, blaming all my problems on other people's sin. Or, I can treat it as an early warning system, using it the way coal miners used canaries to warn themselves of carbon monoxide. When I find myself unusually cognizant of sin in the people around me, I need to step back and examine my own heart. God is able to use anything for our good, and he can even use the specks in our neighbors' eyes to alert us that there is a log in our own.

IMHO.  Definitely not impressed.

Well (IMO) "credible broadcast news" is an oxymoron any more. There's too much financial gain tied to anything on TV. That desire for monetary gain simply tramples objectivity into the dirt.
