Does anyone know of a VW mechanic in our area?
A friend of mine has bought a 1949 cherry bodied VW that has been stored in a barn since 1958(?). Engine needs overhauled.  :)

It would have to be 6 volt I would guess. I don't think the USA went 6 volt until prolly 1955. 1st Chevy with a 265 cu. in. ohv v8 was in 1955.
Ford flatheads were 6 volt until they built the 239 cu.in.ohv v8 in 1954.
I bought a 1929 Ford 4dr in New Castle about 7 years ago and the guy I bought it from had an old VW that was stored with cosmolene smeared on it every where. It had come directly from Germany.

Doesn't Beans on Smock Hoghway work with VW's? They did some stuff for a Rabbit I had a long time back.

Bean's definately does now that you mention it.  My dad had a Rabbit and a Gulf (put well over 300k on the Gulf) and they always went to Bean's for any work he couldn't do himself.

My stepdaughters BF used to work at Beans Auto and they service VW's or at least they used to.
