Microsoft Ready to Unveil Windows 7

Microsoft is excited about its new operating system, Windows 7, which it touts as being release on-time and probably glitch-free. Here are some of the features that will make this system beat the competition:

Automatically crashes any program that starts with a lowercase “i.”

New virus converter allows all the new computer viruses to work on a Mac.

Each copy comes with a dedicated East Indian guy named Steve to talk you through the installation.

The Blue Screen of Death is now available in sepia, purple, and beige.

A built in laser-beam shoots right through your cornea and into your brain, erasing all memories of Windows Vista.

Windows 7 will immediately crash if you use that crappy picture of your kid as your desktop background again.

Windows 7 touts many of the same features as Windows Vista, but with the enhanced value that comes with paying for Windows again.

Automatically detects old software and pops up a dialogue box that says, “Dude, this is crap.”

Actually I've heard that W7 is much leaner and has fewer problems than vista. However, I'm not giving up my linux systems and return to the collective.

actually i hve heard the same.. but the jokes were funny i guess

actually i do have an off topic question. when i boot up the kids computer the dos screen says.. "memory write/read failure  reducing system memory"

does this mean i have a bad memory stick or is the slot bad. i did some tests  by switchig the two sticks and got the same error message. i also went on crucial.com and had the "online memory scammer" scan the system to read the memory that was installed. the scanner read the correct installed gb/mb  sticks. its kinda weird.  what would you think?

It could be a bad stick or a bad slot. Probably the former. Remember if it's bad it gets carved out at boot time and most scanners probably won't see it anyhow.

the crucial scanner is correct for the actual amount of physical sticks installed, but there must be some problem because the boot message is as i mentioned and there is a performance downgrade i notice as well as windows shows a a ton of loss in its ssys info report.

anyhow if you think of anything let me know , if not, no biggie, it is just the ones the kids use when they are here. not that big of a deal i guess.  im off to bed.

does the crucial scanner actually test the memory that windows can't see/use?

I overheard this statement in a book store this afternoon. The young lady was speaking to her apparent boyfriend with a distant dreaminess in her voice.

" Oh, they have an atlas. I have always loved atlases. I mean, I have never actually opened one up and looked at it but I still think they are so cool."

The young man gazed at her as if she had an unfathomable intellect.

Such is love I guess.
