Instant cream of wheat and ants

I have heard tale down here that laying out instant cream of wheat will kill some forms of ants. As I understand it the formic acid causes the tine particles to rupture the innards of the ant and kills them.

/that's a new one on me. I use RAID ant traps or Terro.

I guess it would be safer to have cream of wheat around young ones and pets. I see ants now and again. Will try this out and see if I see dead ants around.

I've heard tell around here that coffe grounds repel most insects from coming into the house if you sprinkle them around the perimeter.
