Cold war politics blocks aid for storm victims
« on: September 12, 2008, 06:25:44 PM »
I found this article to be rather disturbing. Being a Florida resident I am more than "just aware" of the feelings Cuban born Americans have towards Castro. But for the love of Pete, isn't it about time for this thing to be over?

I just don't understand why we are everyone's checkbook when stuff happens?  I know we are the richest country in the world but we aren't going to be at the rate we are going.  If they won't let people in to assess the damage then we shouldn't give them any money at all.

And why is the Treasury not allowing Cubans in America to send their own money?

Castro is the reason. There has been political bad blood ever since he took control of Cuba in 1959. Too bad his baseball career never took off, things might be different. He actually has a really interesting story. It's too bad he is the way he is.

I believe China now has more wealth as a whole than the US does too, of course it's mostly our money. I may be wrong on that so please don't hold me to it.
