For now. I'm hoping it's a milder winter. Last year was brutal.

A milder winter is forecast. The "catch" is this - milder winter temps means that Lake Erie won't freeze and that greatly increases our chances of MORE Lake Effect Snow. Most of our snow last year was from snowstorms, not Lake Effect. (HM watches these things.) IN the past, in the 90s we had some very high accumulation winters due to the El Nino in the Pacific and this one is quite large and intense. We can hope the winds coming across the lake miss us. .. .. ...

Funny how the weather can dictate or affect ones day. Ironically when I lived in LA it had a profound impact. I was mesmerized that 20 drops of water falling from the sky could cause such widespread panic that resulted in all day "storm watch" newscasts. In the great white north it goes without saying one kept an eye on the forecast. In the sunshine state the meteorologist is often the star of the morning and evening news thanks to our summer deluges and insane electrical storms.

I did see that it's supposed to be warmer and wetter than normal there. If it pans out it's either going to run off or pile up. I just hope it's not too much of an impact for the area.

I was relaxing this evening creating some  sawdust out in the wood shop,  and went to pick up a pre-cut piece of half-inch plywood sitting on the floor leaning against wall-

.fortunately, I saw I had a new tenant move in, and the widow was lurking, checking out my wood stock:

Pretty spider. Don't know how Widows are for pest control and whether they're worth keeping around though.

Widows are on the not-welcome list pretty much everywhere. As far as the whole spider thing goes though... unless you live in the extreme northern or southern latitudes you will always be within six feet of a spider.your entire life no matter where you are.

I am not afraid of spiders ( Princess always called me Hands of Steel) but terrified of snakes. Can't move nearly as fast as a snake....

It's been a long four weeks for me. Been working most 10-12 hour days for the past 3.5 weeks. Glad it's over and I can almost get back to normal.

Ahh.... now it's time to upgrade the wife's van. It's been a good egg but it's getting a little long in the tooth. That and she's been wanting to get out of the mommie-van thing and back into a crossover/suv thing. I prefer the truck based ones and she wants something a little lighter and more car like, but still has some better visibility and can haul small stuff around.

At least it's not the holy-crap-it's-gotta-be-done-real-fast like it was with the truck so we can leisurely go kick some tires.

Cars....my car had weird electrical problems today, so weird, all I could think was, alternator issue. So I call Anakin. He comes home, I give him the symptoms. He goes out, lifts the hood and says, Honey, I know what it is... Chipmunks. Chipmunks has started building a nest on top of the engine and CHEWED three alternator wires! The Royal Household is now at WAR! Fortunately Anakin was able to splice the wires - great being married to an engineering major!

That entire neighborhood has been at war with chipmunk's since as long as I can remember. As much as some people will hate the idea... a mouse trap with peanut butter my be one of the better solutions.
