I found out that I didn't have enough bandwidth to run my Echo Dot.  It worked for a while, but then would cut off halfway through her reply.  Called Armstrong and it would cost me $15 additional a month for more bandwidth.  Now that I retired the first of the year I am not in a position to take on additional expenses, so alas I am not using my Dot.  Oh well.  Janet

I have no problem with both an echo and a dot... I have DSL.

It sounds more like a wi-fi problems than your available bandwidth. An echo doesn't use very much bandwidth.

List of wireless equipment in my home...

3 Kindles
2 towers ( soon to add an old tower in the basement )
1 laptop
3 printers
2 ROKUs
1 Echo
1 DOT
2 "semi" smart phones
1 Smart watch

Assortment of Blue Tooth.....about 4 or more.... Verizon DSL using a 7500 modem/router.

I know I don't use all at the same time but... sometimes ...between my wife and I... we have several going at the same time...My wirelesscovers both floors and basement as well as all the reaches (and beyond) of the property boundry.
I would think your issue is with your WiFi as well...I have family and friends on TWC internet and they have no issues. Do you have METAL walls? Live under a POWER LINE lol.

Maybe your modem/router is faulty... or your settings aren't set right??????

Actually the location of the wifi access point makes a big difference. If the signal gets degraded the transmission will drop or stutter as you described.

How close is the echo to to your access point and how much physical material is between them?
Do you have cordless phones that are close to the echo?
Baby monitors also interfere with wifi signals.

Wifi is is really convenient, but getting signal strength and quality can be daunting sometimes.

My router/modem is on the North side of second floor... House is a wood structure. Maybe a WiFi booster might help??? Maybe place on near the center of the home???

Having it located where the signal has to pass through the least amount of material is always optimal. Drywall and wood being easier to get through than plaster, metal and concrete. My sons room has crappy wifi, but between where the access point is and where his computer is lie the electrical service. I will fix this when I have the cash to spend on the one thing I want to get.

If lifetime can comfortably handle such a boatload of technology on DSL, yes, that suggests the problen is not the incoming signal but how your WiFi router broadcasts it within the house.

I don't know what your place is like. The older places aren't necessarily conducive for great wifi, but it will work. Did you get anything figured out yet?

no - not yet.  I had trouble finally getting it installed because I don't have a smart phone and had to do it thru my computer.  I got a friend to help me, but alas since the reception was poor I disconnected it and will start over again.  I need to find a 10 year old to help me.  Thanks for your info and help.Janet

Ah, we use the "out groceries" app so we can maintain multiple shopping lists. We just tell Alexa to add X to the Y list. The down side is the kids are adding things to the list. Mostly my son though. It's convenient. There's a so many possibilities with them.
