Crawford County Police and Fire
« on: June 17, 2008, 11:39:45 PM »
I found this web site that I thought was pretty cool.  It is the CC police and fire scanner broadcast, live through the computer.  They also keep an archive for about 2 weeks so if you know the time an incedent happened you can go back and listen to it.  I look at the call log on the N. Shenango Firehouse web site, see the time and date stuff happens and listen to what went on.  Check it out!

Very cool. I have a scanner and started to get into that whole thing at one time but lost interest along the way. It's a time consuming process to understand what's really being said. Now it's pulled out when there are emergency situations going on (read hurricanes and other severe weather)

The scanner people are very passionate about their hobby and are a wealth of information.

I used to babysit for a WM2 fireman a long time ago.  I was on an on call basis.  If the siren went off on certain days, I would know just to come over.  I usually sat and listened to the scanner.  This would be very cool to listen too!  Thanks!

Had to go see if my 911 call on May 29 was on there.  Was having work done here and the guys cut my gas line.  Not cool.  It's not there.  Very cool site.

Ya.  I called my gas company right away and got a recording (of course) and one of the things it said was if you have a suspected or known gas line leak to call 911 immediately.  So I did.  Turns out having a natural gas line cut and your propane line cut are two diffent things.  Propane is not a necessarily as bad a situation.  And we shut the valve off immediately after it happened.

I was having a very good Karma day that day nonetheless.  A volunteer fireman who just happens to work for my gas company was driving by my house at the time and got the call on his scanner and stopped right then and there.   Got everything undercontrol and made all the necessary calls to 911 to stop the fire department from coming out and got the gas company there within 15 minutes and had the line repaired.  How about that!
