spring termite swarms
« on: March 23, 2009, 03:54:16 PM »
here in northwestern pennsylvania in spring there can be termite swarms in
warm, humid, rainy weather. the difference between a flying ant & a termite is this:
ants have segmented bodies, head thorax & abdomen. their wings are the same size as
their bodies.
termites have just their head & body which is cigar shaped. their wings are twice as long as
their body because once they land they will lean back to snap their wings off to find a mate & tunnel back underground to start a new colony.
ants are very good fliers!
termites are terrible fliers, they flutter like butterflies.
if you have a termite swarm in your house, dont panic, they can come outin hundreds. use hair spray or bug spray to calm them down.
then call me!!!
