I have avoided this subject expecting the usual bull from the right wing - but was pleasantly surprised to see that there is some thoughtful meaningful conversation going on here.  Kudos to you all!!!

No bull here. I saw Cuba today. Almost.

I thought it ironic and humorous and even a bit unnerving in retrospect.

An interesting contrast and compare statement:

..we are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but-

.

.. we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.

Funny how that works.

if anyone DOES insist on tainting an entire group for the actions of the few, abortion-clinic bombers and mideast suicide bombers are just as much representative or fringe of their respective groups.

Good to know.

Though, please-

....by all means-

....feel free to insist in tainting away all you want with that red-herring ;) .

Let's not forget domestic radical Christian terrorism.

I was riding the bicycle back from lunch today when, out of the blue that quote  just popped into the chrome dome while in low gear grinding up the last hill-

....interesting how some can liberally and freely use the the term-

...."radical Christian terrorism".....

....but
then they wildly wave the racist-profiling flag and have an aneurism railing against any use of -

...."radical Islamic terrorism".

Funny how it works that way.

You were the one who raised the point of judging:
"

It all depends on what you want to brand as terrorism. There's plenty of peace based organizations (and religions) that have violent sects that claim some affiliation to the mothership. There's also the perspective factor on what constitutes a terrorist. However to stick to the ISIS/ISOL, Taliban and the like; these are groups that seek to seize political power under the guise of religious righteousness and intimidation. The religious right, no matter however offensive their actions are, do not want political control over the country or the government. At least not yet anyhow.

The  Muslim Brotherhood on the other hand was a not quite so radical group that Mubarek legalized right before he got ousted. Conveniently the US was was there to help them into their new seat. No matter how that gets spun it was all under the "nation building" agenda we have. I am not privy to e what the end-game of the government or those behind the scenes running the show really is. Either way it's a means to keep Egypt under control for the time being. There is a chess match of monstorous proportions going on in the world that most people just don't seem to be paying attention to. Well actually it's more like a giant game of "Risk" when I think about it.

You must have missed all the discussion of the last half-century about abortion, same-sex marriage, morality and the like.

Every group, left and right, wants to impose its standards on the nation if given the chance.
