Stay warm
« on: January 06, 2014, 11:13:58 AM »
Hope everyone has winterized their vehicles, insulated their homes, brought their pets inside and take precautions. There's going to be a lot of vehicles that won't be starting tomorrow morning too. If you're worried about yours you can always yank the battery and keep it inside tonight. Of course if you have a newer car you'll have to screw around with the remotes, radio and who knows what else, but you'll get your car started at least.

I haven't seen anything on school closures yet, but I suspect that'll be coming out  later.

Stay warm and safe!

I see the temperature according to the weather station at the Meadville airport the temperature is officially at -2.2. Pretty impressive drop from the midnight temperature of 44.6!

I remember when a friend of mine in AK didn't close a window all the way (I have node idea why he even opened it really but he drank a lot too) and it was cracked about half an inch. It dropped to about 40 below and the house started getting cold. The air went down the wall and froze his baseboard pipes. After closing the window the pipes thawed and made one of the worst groaning noises I've ever heard a house make. I thought a wall was going to blow out!

Expected the roads to be worse than they were this morning after watching the rain last night.  Was sure it would freeze.  At 1 p.m. today it was 19 degrees - by 3 p.m. it was about 10 and when I left the office at 4:30 p.m. it was hovering right over zero.  Even with good gloves on my hands really hurt while in the car.  Everyone stay warm, take care of your animals and be safe.

Woke up to no furnace running - it was very cold in the house.  Fortunately a friend of mine is an electrician and he diagnosed the air intake was frozen and clogged.  Got it running and I am grateful.  Stay warm and stay safe.
