The end of year figures are in.

In the past year my retirement stock portfolio grew 34% more than it grew during the entire eight previous years.

В первый год президентства Обамы фондовый рынок вырос больше, чем в первый год для Трампа. По-видимому, вы тогда не хорошо инвестировали.

Again you selectively compare points in time to meet your objective one year under Trump vs. 8 years under Obama, similar to the CLP forum.  If you compare first year for Obama vs. first year for Trump there is no comparison.   For Obama US stocks grew 47%, for Trump 24%.    Both administrations trailed international gains, so much for Trump's MAGA.  Time will tell how Trump compares to a full term under Obama, assuming Trump makes it a full term..... ;D
https://www.financial-planning.com/news/trump-vs-obama-who-had-best-1st-year-stock-market-gains

Pull out your statement under the first year of Obama as well to do a true comparison.  It will show either it was better than Trump's first year, or you were a poor investor that year.

(Waters) ...I think some people are missing something here. The president (Obama) has put in place an organization that contains a kind of data base that no one has ever seen before in life. Thatís going to be very, very powerful.

...

That data base will have information about everything on every individual on ways that has never done before. And who ever runs for President, on the Democratic ticket has to deal with that. Theyíre going to have to go down with that data base and the concerns of those people are because they canít around it. And heís (Obama) been very smart. I mean itís very powerful what he is leaving in place.

....imagine that.

....if you missed the Sunday evening broadcast -

....Cambridge Analyticaís data in action-.

https://www.cbsnews.com/video/secret-weapon/

(CBSí Stahl) Facebookís advertising technology helped President Obama in 2012. But today, Facebook offers something far more precise and sophisticated.

While the president recently tweeted that Facebook was always anti-Trump, Parscal relied heavily on the company, particularly on its cutting edge targeting tools.

One of the best things Facebook did for you, I heard was penetrate the rural vote. Is that correct?

(Parscal) Ya. Facebook now lets you get to places, and possibly places that you would never go to with TV ads. Now I can find 15 people in the Florida panhandle that I would never buy a TV ad for. And we took opportunities which I think the other side didnít.

(CBSí Stahl) Like what?

(Parscal) Well, we had their staff embedded in our offices.

(CBSí Stahl) WHAT?

(Parscal) Ya, Facebook employees would show up for work everyday in our offices

(CBSí Stahl) Whoa, wait a minute. Face book employees showed up at the Trump headquarters?

(Parscal) Google employees and Twitter employees.

(CBSí Stahl) They were embedded in your campaign?

(Parscal) I mean they were there multiple days a week, three, four days a week.

(CBSí Stahl) What were they doing inside your campaign?

(Parscal) Helping teach us use their platform

...

(CBSí Stahl) Parscale told us the Russian plot line as pushed by liberals who think they lost because he cheated. The irony he says is that it wasnít a foreign entity helping the campaign, but left-leaning American companies like Twitter, Google, and above all, Facebook.

(Parscal)These social platforms were all invented by very liberal people on the west and east coasts and we figured out how to use it to push conservative values. I donít think they ever thought that would happen. I would say the number one thing come to me is, like- I just never thought Republicans would be the ones to use all this.

(CBSí Stahl) So a liberal invents all this stuff, and a conservative in the Midwest figures out how to use it.

(Parscal) And I think we figured out how to use it better than anyone in history.

Over the past couple of decades politics has become a circus that PT Barnum would be in awe of.

I'm thinking we're seeing the first kindling being lit for burning the whole thing down. (Power structures  - both formal and informal) Things are changing . . . and I'm in the mood for a good shit show.

It's not just one person. It's decades of accumulation. I'm not a fan of Washington to start with because a central government can't survive without power and in a system that was designed to minimal centralized power the federal government certainly has grabbed a lot of it over the years. They have also obtained via some rather coercive and usurping ways. The end result is that every administration takes away just a little bit more in the end. I will say that social media has been a tremendous propaganda tool for getting info-graphics full of  lies and half-truths out there. They're dialed in to what people want to hear, believe and parrot and are doing it all with a picture and twenty-five words or less. The saddest part is people are taking this as credible information.
