Wondering About Flies

Just enjoy.  Nexy year you may not be so lucky.  ;)  But not to worry - they do still exist.  I have some furry friends who will tell you so.

Since I live a few miles from the CC Fairgrounds, I bet we may see a fly or two this week  :D

Actually Foodie, I am amazed at how few flies there are up there with all the animals.  Everybody is real good at keeping their stalls cleaned out and  they remove the poop frequently.  Somebodys fields somewhere are getting a good fertilizin'!

Ok - um - cuz I think this way?

By creating waste and breeding as much livestock that we as a species do - have we created more opportunities for 'pests' like flies to survive more than they would without the benefits of our industrial revolution? AND - in creating the pesticides we have to kill what we've ultimately encouraged, are we throwing things further out of balance? Flies do serve a purpose. as do termites, ticks (sorry Foodie - I do hate the little bastards even if it's solely out of synpathy), spiders, etc.

The more I think about the last 100 years of 'progress' the more frightened I become sometimes. I don't think this 'thing' we're doing was thoroughly thought out . . . .

I think all of your flies are here.  I've had several that have gotten into the house.   >:(

I would love a sure fire way to get rid of all the darn mosquitoes!  I give thanks to the bats that fly around!  They should be fat and happy this year!

Due to lack of rain around here.....skeeters are nearly nonexistent.   That is a very good thing because we have been able to sit on the deck in the evening and star gaze with the telescope!!

everyone needs to ck their yards for standing water in a bucket or other container that could have water in it from rain (unused kiddie pool). if you look into the water, & see squigly things then these are baby mosquitos. empty out that water & they are dead b4 you have a problem. also now is the time to start looking outside around your home for bees & wasps nests to start forming, also bald-faced hornet paper neswts, these can be very aggressive! also b4 cutting your yard, take a stroll around to be sure there arent any yellow-jacket ground nests! these little guys too are nasty! plus you REALLY dont want to run that over with your mower!!! 8)

With my sandy soil, I worry about fire ants.

No standing water in my yard - it is bone dry!  The Skeeters just love me!
